Abortions are 100% fatal to those who are aborted. Sometimes babies survive an attempt to abort them. These are not abortions, these are attempted abortions. But these survivors don’t live for long if they are killed outright by the abortionist or left to die.
abortion
Anything that intentionally kills the living product of conception is abortion. That clear fact is obscured by those who would define abortion as terminating pregnancy. What’s the difference? There would be none, except that these people also [re]define pregnancy as beginning when the embryo is implanted into the uterus. They go further by [re]defining contraception as preventing pregnancy, rather than preventing conception. That allows them to claim that chemical or hormonal abortifacients that prevent implantation are really just contraceptives.
kills
The subject of an abortion is undeniably alive. That is because it meets every scientific definition of life from the moment of conception. The question of “When does life begin?” is simply not a matter for debate. The subject of an abortion is just as undeniably killed.
a human
Every form of life is of a particular species. The species of life that results from human conception is human life.
being
An unborn human is not merely alive, it is a distinct life. It is not merely part of a life like an organ or a limb or cells from the lining of your cheek. It is not just “birth tissue.” While it resides in its mother’s body, it is a distinct and different life from its mother. It has distinctly different DNA, may be of a different sex, and may have a different blood type. From a biological, scientific point of view, at no point is the level of development of an organism justification for claiming it is not a distinct life.
conclusion
Every abortion kills a human being. This is a fact. If, until now, you have supported a so-called right to choose abortion, and if the implications of this fact disturb you, then please consider whether you should reevaluate your position on abortion.
If you still think “it’s just a bunch of cells,” then consider that you are “a bunch of cells” that are simply further along the natural path of development. Throughout history, people in power have looked at people like yourself as being the equivalent of “just a bunch of cells,” and not worthy of life:
- “just a [race]”
- “just a [nationality]”
- “just a [religion]”
- “just a [sex]”
- “just a [tribe]”
- “just a [political persuasion]”
- “just a [age]”
- “just a [occupation]”
- “just a [socioeconomic status]”
- “just a [geographic location]”
- “just a [health]”
- “just a [level of mental development]”
- “just a [level of dependence]”
- “just a [level of inconvenience]”
